Flaker

How to avoid flakes to begin with?  Top

  • I am a new user to Flakelist.org and really appreciate the opportunity to vent frustration generated from dealing with the inevitable flake when using Craigslist. I would very much like to see this site take off where it can help fellow NONflakes avoid becoming victimized.

It just aggravates me to no end when it happens to me. Have the freakin balls to tell me you changed your mind instead of just disappearing and not calling instead of being a douchebag.

Would there be a way for flakelist.org to become a database of people marked as flakes that Craigslist users could reference against before choosing to respond, kind of like a blacklist?

My biggest goal is preventative maintenance: AVOIDING a flake in the first place. Just some suggestions.

  • All you have to do is Google their name, phone or email if a complaint was posted anywhere or anything they have posted will come up in your search.

The sad truth is that no matter how many precautions you take or how much research you do, you are always going to come across some d*ouch bag, scammer or inconsiderate person.

  • Thank you for your kind words, Stone!! icon_biggrin

I originally created Flakelist because I was sick and tired of all of the flakes flaking out on me on various sites. (Craigslist, FeeBaY, FreeCycle, etc...) I just wanted a place where I could out these idiots for pulling this crap. Then I had some elderly friends almost fall for one of those big time scams that would have cost them several thousand dollars if they went through with it. That REALLY ticked me off and that was when I added the scammer selection. I have a BIG problem with anyone that tries to take someone elses hard earned money, but it becomes an even BIGGER problem to me when it is the elderly that the scammers prey upon!! icon_mad

Flakelist was a bit slow running until a segment aired on Fox News. After that we started getting a lot more reports of flakes and scammers, and it skyrocketed from there. (My elderly friends also spread the word amongst their friends, and so on...)

I get countless private emails thanking us for creating this site because it saved them from losing lots of money to scammers. I figured if I could save even one person by creating this site, then I did my job. Now these figures run into the 100s and 1000's of folks that are saved daily by checking this site. YAY!! icon_biggrin

Alas, the best way to search to see if anyone that you have been dealing with is on this site is via google or by typing in their info in the search bar above. We've tried to work with Craigslist but have been repeatedly ignored. icon_rolleyes

Thank you again for visiting us and using Flakelist.org. icon_biggrin

  • I am a new user to Flakelist, As of 5 minutes ago I stumbled on your site. So far today, 2 of the job listings I applied to, are a scam. This sickens me. I have been searching for a job for 3 weeks now.

Thanks to your site, I can see who is true and who is not.
    Thanks a million
  • You are very welcome, tmrowe. If we can save one person from being scammed, then it makes all of our work and effort we put into this site worth it. icon_biggrin
