I'M TIRED OF WASTING MY PRECIOUS TIME REPLYING TO BOGUS LISTINGS. LET'S ALL WORK TOGETHER TO STOP THIS NOW!! THANK YOU!!

I share your pain pavega59!
Now that I know the score about the potential for fake jobs (especially on CraigsList) I am much more cautious. I started responding to those ads by asking for more information from them before I would send them my resume and cover letter. I was nice about it and hoped that any real real employer would send me back something: a name, an address, etc.
There is a total vacuum out and as it stands... I am getting no responses to those emails!!! Are there no real employers out there? Are they insulted that I should dare to ask them if they are a real job in my community? I can only assume that the ad is a fake, which is really depressing. The weird fact is that the fake ads now are the best ads. They don't have the spelling problems or foreign sounding speech patterns. Their ads are well written, the job is challenging, great pay... I would love to believe it was real. SAD, very very SAD!!! -

If the company is legit then good habit to get into is to always send your resume/app. info directly to the email address listed on the actual company website. Some scammers have gotten wise in that they post links to legit company websites but ask for information to be sent to a yahoo or gmail address instead.
One thing I use to help verify the credibility of certain websites is to run a whois search using sites like www.whois.sc. If the name, phone number or address of the registrant is obfuscated then that should send up a red flag right there. -

One thing I do is google the "company" to see if they are legit. I suggest everyone do this before they send out ANY information to a job posting. Better to be safe than sorry.
The only thing is, some of the postings I've seen don't have that information. Still, if they list the "company name", then I'll do that. -

Yea, Arlia, if they can't even list a company, then my red flag immediately goes up. If they send you an email with a "company" name, then one could Google it then but sometimes they still try to con you out of information before providing a bogus company name. They try to get ya all around, the vultures!

Another thing to think about is scammers are going to become more sophisticated in duping people. There are probably some phony company sites that have working phone/fax numbers as well as everything else to put on the front of a legit operation.
The places I would be especially leery of are staffing agencies. Even some of the legitimate ones (and I use that term very loosely) have been known to sell applicant information to third parties.
Ever wonder where some of that junk mail comes from? (I'm talking postal, not email.) -

I have applied for a multitude of jobs...no bites...people are going to burn in you-know-where for the deceitful actions of trying to put the kibosh on those of us who are trying to be honest and decent in trying to support ourselves and our families. WTF is WRONG with these people??? it sickens me to no end. When applying for jobs on craigslist, keep this in the back of your mind. The national unemployment rate is 9.1%, so why does CL have so many job postings? Most are scams.
