3rd time posting, try again:
I recently sent ussearch $20.00 for a credit/background check on myself, 1st time ever. I was looking for a rental and each place I went to they wanted to do a credit/background check at rates from $30, 40, 50, 75, $100.00. A very expensive proposition. I figured I would get my own report and make copies for any potential landlord[LL] requesting same to save money.
ussearch sent me a report containing my old PO Box number and address. That was it.
Their site states they can provide reports on criminal, civil, evictions, judgments, liens, etc. But the available information for each state is vaguely worded.
I e-mailed them asking them to recheck the info they gave me as it was incomplete and other info should be available.
They replied that what I got was what was available to them and in their system. That if I felt there is other info available send us the evidence/documents of dates of the criminal, civil records, county, state, etc. and we will look into it.
I replied back that: "If I understand you correctly, you want me to send you copies of the information I paid you to provide and send to me? That I initially requested from you in the 1st place...? Should I charge you for doing that? And if I do that will you also refund or credit the $20.00 I sent you? Will I get a % of the sales on my personal info I am providing to you?"
They replied with boilerplate responses, referring me to other areas of their site. To call them on my pre-paid cell, etc.
I previewed and tried to edit the above post but no edit buttons, am I missing something? Or are their edit buttons just after posting? My original post somehow disappeared when I hit the preview button? And then gave me the option of replying to my disappeared post? Love it? You ripped off my post? Kind of a joke?
At any rate to finish my post: Do you think I got ripped off? Or should I just let them keep my $20.00 for providing me with my old PO Box number I and incomplete information?
Thoughts?
