Post Title: Secretary/ data entry

Location: new york city

States affected: CT - connecticut     NJ - new jersey     NY - new york

Notes:
Hello,

Thank you for sending your resume to me. So the job responsibilities are clear,
you will be answering the phone, scheduling meetings, and running company errands
such as buying office supplies and making bank deposits, in a company car. When
running errands you will be provided with a company credit card to make supply purchases, etc.

We have had some bad experiences with prior employees taking advantage
of having access to a company credit card in the past, so before we
can schedule an interview, we need you to get a credit check. We
prefer you use http://freecredltreport.org/offer to obtain this information
as they currently have a free trial. We have also found their reports most accurate.
When you submit your information they will send you your credit score.
When you email me your credit score, we can schedule for an interview.
Please do not email me your credit report, as this may have private information in it.
If you have a low credit score, that will not prevent
you from having an interview with us, but it does show us that you are trustworthy and responsible.

Please send me your schedule with availability for an interview along with your credit score.
I am looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Jane Young

She got me!

I responded to a job posting on Craigslist and got this exact response back. I filled out the credit report and haven't heard a thing back.

I went to cancel the account because I didn't want my credit card charged after the "free trial" was over and the link was dead. I did a Google search on the company name and found this posting. Boy do I feel like a moron!

I'm worried because I entered my debit card info onto this site. So far no activity but my husband is at the bank changing all of our info just in case.

Thanks for posting this!

bah

I got this same email back like 40 times from Craigslist. I've been searching for over a month and I've had NO leads whatsoever. Do not use Craigslist and NEVER give them your credit information unless you talk to them on the phone first.

Ditto...

I replied to an ad for a Secretary in York, PA on Craigslist. Got the same letter in return. So glad I did a search and found this site before submitting any of my info!

This letter came from email address: [Pegjerkins160@yahoo.com]

"Hello,

Thank you for sending your resume to me. I've read it over and think you're a perfect candidate.

So that the job responsibilities are clear, you will be answering the phone, scheduling meetings, and running company errands such as buying office supplies and making bank deposits in a company car. When running errands you will be provided with a company credit card to make supply purchases, etc.

We have had some bad experiences with prior employees taking advantage of having access to a company credit card in the past, so before we can schedule an interview, we need you to get a credit check. If you have a report dated within the last two weeks this will be fine, otherwise we prefer you use http://gofreereports.net to obtain this information.

We have found their reports most accurate as they check your score against all three bureaus.

When you submit your information they will send you your credit score, then when you email me your score we can schedule for an interview.

Please do not email me your credit report as it may contain private information in it.

If you have a low credit score that will not prevent you from having an interview with us, however in the case that it is a good score it shows us that you are trustworthy and responsible.

Please send me your schedule with availability for an interview along with your credit score.

I am looking forward to your response.

Add showed up on CL today in Admin/Office section. I did flag it and sent email to abuse@craiglist.org. I sent another bogus ad/email to address and CL seems to have it pulled quick so did the same for this Assistant ad.

As soon as I received this reply to my response-inquiry to a backpage.com job advertisement, I looked up the "Parks and Hendricks LLP" company on Scroogle, and found this Flakelist.org page. Vermin just proliferate during times of crisis, don't they?

I am in San Diego, California, and responded to their wanted ad. I thought their response looked fishy to me (the same letter as everyone else got) so I did not answer back. I looked them up and found this site. Thank you all for reporting them. Hope this helps with others who are need of information.

Hell no she's not getting me

I am very very careful with my information. For the first time I was given a law firm name I entered the law firm and they re-directed me here. That was so smart (opposite of course) from them. As I look for a job I'm also a financial adviser in my starting phases. Guys and gals, be careful with your credit information don't enter it everywhere I got many mails like this. The one I got was for a general office assistant and here is the thing, I got it at 2 AM. Who in heaven is working at that time? Who love his/her job that much? NOBODY.

NOT ONLY on this case, whenever you see a mail like this with a link to get your credit report report it. Post it here so we all know, and report their e mail address. Write abuse@email server.com (hotmail yahoo which go for ymail and rocketmail, aol, and gmail) DON'T FILL THOSE APPLICATIONS if an employer want you they will call you for interview if they need the credit report they would do it in the spot not by mail

It is a scam

It is a phishing scam, where they send you that email with a link attached to it & if you click on the link they are able to retrieve all the information that you filled out in accordance to that web site ie: Creditreport.com. Don't click on the link.

Craigslist DC- September 30

I sent out resumes to some postings on Craigslist the week of September 27 - October 1. I got this same response back. It stood out to me immediately as odd based on the fact they are asking for you to follow a link to gain your credit score coupled with the fact that it sounds like too much of information disclosure about the past employees. I decided to not respond anyway because it sounded unprofessional.

Today I decided to look up the company of "Park and Hendricks LLP" to see what they do and if they are actually legit, before I replied to say "no thank you" to them. I found this site. I'm glad I'm not the only one who got this response and that my gut instinct was right.

Frenchie, here's some great advice from fellow user Susan on what to do. Hope this helps. ~Flakemistress

Run a full virus Scan. Adaware has a free download that will get rid of cookies but if you do not have a good virus protector you will want to research which spyboot will be best for your computer. You will need to research what is best for you. The free downloads will not do enough.

Clean out your Temp Internet files, run a defrag. These are all located in the control panel of your comuputer.

Change passwords but do so once you have run the scan and when the computer is not hooked to the interned.

Its best to talk to a computer tech and just get your computer cleaned out. Hope that helps. A few weeks ago I listed a variety of things to watch out for when looking on Craigslist.

1. Highlight the add and look for the words or gibberish in the background.

2. Google the heading then the words craigslist. If its a scam many locations will come up. Also search major cities and look for the same ad and information. They are hitting everywhere.

3. If the price and pics look too good to be true they are. Look at the background. Does it look staged? Or if not are there trees when there should not be trees?

4. Ask a lot of questions about the location and property. If they keep asking you to fill out a credit report give it up.

5. No phone number or specific cross streets? Big Red Flag.

6. Never give out your personal information.

8. They tend to use a few words when you look at the various postings you will see the repeating of things.

NOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED GO BACK AND FLAG. Help everyone out. Report to Craigslist.

Same thing

I live in the Ft. Myers, FL area and received the same letter from Jane Yung.

NEVER click on any link they send you. To better protect yourself, go to any of the credit bureaus online and put a fraud alert on yourself, free of charge. You have to renew it every 90 days. If anyone tries to create an account in your name, using your SS#, they will be asked secret questions you put in the fraud alert. Please contact all your credit card companies, cancel and get new cards and have them contact you personally if anyone tries to use your credit card.

These scammers will get theirs.

Good luck

Not one but two emails

Same thing happening in Northern Colorado. Responded to an add listed on CL yesterday and received an e-mail (from jacqulinemullican@gmail.com) back almost immediately wanting me to complete a questionnaire which in the middle of asked you to order a credit report. Then today received another from Jane Yung asking which is the same letter that others have received. I filled out the questionnaire up to the point of it requesting the credit report then exited out. Thankfully, I relied on my gut instinct and did not order the credit report! I, also, reported it as spam.
