After responding to a job listing on craigslist, I received the following email:

How are you [my full name], it's great to speak to you.

You seem definitely qualified for our job position, and more so than the other 14 applicants we received applications from. I would like to find an available time to set up the next step with you. However, before I can set up an interview, Swilman will require you to attain a recent(past 15-20 business days) credit report. We have made this a standard because our company unfortunately had a couple bad experiences with former employees taking advantage of us.

Both myself and the company heavily prefer it if you use http://getfreecreditreport2010.com to attain your check as they are giving the check at zero cost to you(unlike other places). We have also discovered that their scores always report back the most factual and accurate information compared to others.

Once you have submitted all of the necessary information, they will display your personal credit report. Afterwards, you will e-mail my department the reported credit score, a phone number we can reach you at, and your availability to set up an interview.
I ask you to not email me the entire credit report, as it will contain private information. If you have a lower than expected credit score, it will not prevent you from employment. Personally, I had a fairly low score when I started here.

If you do not wish to complete a recent credit check, unfortunately we will need to meet with the second choice.

Honestly, I am wanting to fill this position with a new friendly face and am looking to your quick reply.

I checked out their website which had NOTHING to do with the type of job I applied for, and the address was a fake..and if you clicked on the bottom for Privacy Policy and Term of Use, it just went to the "about" page.
