produced the following email. It is obviously a scam because a) if they would have actually read my resume, they wouldn't have called me Mama Gaea, b) employers run credit reports themselves, they don't ask potential employees to do it for them, and c) the website lists an address in Beaverton as their headquarters, doesn't include a zip code, and when I checked GoogleMaps, it's not a real address. In fact, it's just down the street from me and it's a residential street.
"Hello Mama Gaea, it's fantastic to speak with you.
We appreciate you e-mailing us. In case my posting was not clear, the responsibilities of the position are as follows: you will be answering the main phone and taking messages when applicable, you will work on scheduling our company meetings, and errand running for us for things such as purchasing office supplies and making the bank deposits (you will always be provided with a company car). While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.
You seem definitely qualified for the current job opening, and more so than the other 19 applicants we received emails from. I would like to find an available time to set up the next step with you. However, before I can schedule a formal meeting, Prung requires that you attain a recent(from the past 10-15 business days) credit report. We, at Prung Corp, enforce this because our company unfortunately had a few bad encounters with prior employees exploiting access to a company credit card.
Both the company and I heavily prefer it that you use http://freecreditscore-usa2010.com to attain this information as they are offering this currently at no cost to you(unlike other places). Prung has also found that their scores always report the most accurate information compared to others.
Once you submit all of the required information, their company will display your personal report. Afterwards, you will e-mail me your reported credit score, a phone number we can reach you at, and your availability times to schedule an interview.
Do not email me your entire report, as it will have private information. If you currently have a less than desirable credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. I had a pretty low score when I started here.
If you do not wish to send in a recent credit check, unfortunately I will need to speak with our second choice.
Personally, I am wanting to get this position filled with a friendly face and am looking forward to your quick reply.
Have a great Friday,
Brittany Alexander

These people . . .
have tried this scam with several different websites. It's really easy for me to call them out because they list one of their locations in Voorhees, NJ. I happen to live in Voorhees and I can assure you that the street address they give is completely fake. It's a shame people have nothing better to do than to con job seekers into sharing their personal info. |

So sad...
I got the same email down to the T. They knew my name because it was obvious in my email. The first thing that threw me off was they asked for my credit score before even speaking with me about the job. I can understand checking my credit if it was down to me and 1 other person, Ive had that done before. But she said it was between me and 20 other people. Yeah no thanks. Then I checked their website. Locations in New York, Chicago and then Antioch...my small town...yeah right. And then the address didnt exist. Dont fall for this scam!!! |

Seattle too
Same exact e-mail here and the seattle location does not exist as well... Who gives out financial information over the internet these day? If a reputable company requires any information from you it is during/after the interview, not before. |
