Notes:
Thank you for replying to our job listing posted on Craigslist and for taking the time to send in your resume. I am the human resources assistant for our company, XRC Inc. From the many responses I received you have been chosen for further consideration. I have reviewed your resume and I feel that your experience would serve you well in this position should you be chosen to work with us.
I would like to schedule an interview with you this week if possible. We will be conducting interviews within the next 4 to 5 business days. Please note that our company requires all potential employees to have a credit score on file for your interview. We ask for this because you will have access to company credit cards for business expenses. You also will be given petty cash and will be passed access to the expense accounts. We request that each likely employee complete this as this ensures us that our future employee is credible, trustworthy and can be an asset of the company.
Please also note that because of the recent economy we take in to consideration that there may be some blemishes on a large portion of applicant scores. Rest assured that our hiring will not be dependent strictly on a per score basis.
Please complete and print your credit score from this Link You will need to bring a copy with you to your interview. This credit score costs you nothing and is completely secure from the most trusted credit score website online.
Please complete this first step ASAP as we only have 48 hours to set up interviews. When you have completed the credit score reply to this email and we will set a time for an interview. You will be interviewing with Elizabeth Moore, our staffing manager.
Congratulations on becoming a candidate for our company!
I look forward to meeting with you.

Did that email look familiar? It would because like so many others it was also sent to me. In my pursuit to relocate to TX, I decided to apply for work through craigslist. Unfortunately or maybe I should say fortunately this is not the first scammer to come my way. I received the email, initially got excited, then decided to google the email address (amy.merrill@elite-plĀacement.com). Like so many times before I found what I was hoping not to and that was other people warning others of a potential and probably scam. My suggestion is simple..post your resume on safer sites. I have posted mine on Monster.com, USAJOB.com, Hotjobs.com and several others. Never give anyone your SSN. At the very least these scammers are getting excellent reference material to doctor up their own resumes. Good luck everyone and be cautious, treat your job search like you would treat a relationship..have faith but always be aware of what your getting into because not all are the one!

Well Said...
I concur. NEVER ever give out your personal information like SSI#, etc... They use these for identity theft in even more scams. Thanks for reporting! |

I also recieved this email from Amy Mattison. Like most people, I know that if your employer is asking for a credit check, it is usually done during your interview with a financial institute. I have never been asked for this information for any other job. Besides, once you have the position your employer will have your SS# if there are any questions. I would shrug off craigslist too fast though, there are many employers that us craigslist because the ad is free. I know several people that got good jobs off of craigslist. My suggestion would be, be careful, do not trust every email that you get and if they are a serious company a return email will have the company name listed which you google search to endure they are a reputable company. |
