I also have posted this as a comment in response to another person's post about SAMANTHA COLE. This person, NICOLE FISHER, has submitted an "ad" for a personal assistant on CL. I sent her a brief email, asking her for more information. This is the response I received:

Nicole Fisher is my name and I was born in Newnan,Georgia,USA. I am into manufacturing of textiles,the importation of textile materials to the united states and also the exportation of our clothings to other countries in the world. 2 years ago i travelled with my late dad to Parkistan and west africa where I saw these fabrics beautifully displayed.I fell in love with them and I had to buy some.They were sown by the local fashion designers and wow beautiful styles they were!


Since then,I have been travelling around exporting the fabrics to the United states and I must confess,the demand is on the increase.Also, the demand for our clothings and styles in other parts of the world is also on the increase.I am really happy because this has made me learnt about so many cultures and I am also promoting the United states dress sense and styles in other countries.

Why I need a Personal assistant?


Due to my frequent travelings and the fact that I am yet to have a registered company in the united states,I am not always around to attend to my numerous clients.I supply these materials to some individuals and some textile companies.I am building a website so that I can show case these materials and get more clients.


At the moment,there is a need to relate more with my clients and provide excellent services.I need someone who can be of helping hands while I am not in the united states.An assistant who will help in sending out payments to textile companies who supply me some textile materials such as (wool, silk), (cotton, flax, jute),(asbestos, glass fiber),(nylon, polyester, acrylic which are used the manufacturing of these materials,receiving payments from my clients, receiving letters and mails on my behalf,Book my flight tickets,Send letters and mails from my clients.etc.This position is home-based and flexible part time job,you can be in any location you will be working from your home doing all the activities.All you need do is to check your emails twice daily for instructions and keep your phone on most times incase I might need to call you from anywhere I may be.Let me know if and when you will be available to start.This can act as a stable foundation to our working relationship.




Requirements


Customer relations is highly important because you will be receiving and returning mails and phone calls from client.You must be Organized and able to take instructions well.Dependable, Reliable and Trustworthy.Must have excellent English language skills (both spoken and written)
Have great work ethic and attitude, as well as people skills pay-attention to detail, capable of multi-tasking, and works well under stress at times.


Salary and benefits


Salary will be $500 weekly.You may prefer yours Bi-weekly or monthly.

You will need to set up a mini office in your home.This office will contain office equipments such ass your computer,printer,fax machine etc. Let me know all the office equipments that you have on ground so that I can make arrangements for some more if need be.

She then proceeded to send me a "Personal Information Form." This is the email she sent along with it:

How was your night?Thanks for the interest.I really do appreciate the time you have taken to read my lengthy email. However,since a face to face interview is almost impossible at the moment(I am out of the country),I have attached a personal information form.This will give me an in depth analysis of you and will make me choose the best hands from the numerous applicant who have applied for the same position.Before you can be chosen,you must go through the personal information form and fill in correctly all data. Remember that I am conducting the same interview for other applicants and supplying appropriate information can definitely be an advantage for you to pick up the job.Complete and attach the the form to your next email.

I will be in the states in 2 weeks time.

Following, she then sent an Employee Agreement form (which I did not fill out or email back to her):

Good morning Candice,

After going through your information again and again,I fell in love with it.lol..I am rest assured that this is the beginning of a good working relationship.From the details you have sent to me, I would want to give you the opportunity to be my new assistant; I do hope my decision will be worthwhile.As a seasoned Personal Assistant, I hope you will not underestimate my need to trust, rely and depend upon your ability to represent me at any given moment. With a great attitude and work ethic, I want you to make evident all of these traits as my employee.I am glad to inform you that you have been fully employed to take up the position.
I'll be using the next couple of days to test your efficiency and diligence towards this, also to work out your time schedule and fit it to mine. I really need to find the perfect person for this job, I'm confident you can take up the challenge and on the long run we should have a relatively sound working relationship between us.

I hope we can get a head start with things as soon as possible. I have had to put a hold on a lot and I would appreciate it if you can be available for me immediately. I do have a couple of urgent tasks for you which will include you making some purchases and payments on my behalf. You will receive checks and some money orders via mail and courier services which will also cover your wage for the week as well as all other purchases and payments needed to be made on my behalf. I will update you further on this and will give you a comprehensive list on how to go about them.

After this, I sent her an email asking her a few questions, especially those related to the contents of the Employee Agreement form related to "reimbursements" and other such nonsense. She did not respond. That day, I received a UPS from a DIANA BRUMMEL in Merced, CA. In it was a check for $3,245 made to look like it was written from the bank Capital One. There were several things wrong with this check: the routing number at the bottom and the number at the top right were off by one digit. Also, there was not a period in the amount area for the "cents." There was just a comma, like $3,245,00 An obvious typo, that would not occur if it were a real check. There was also no watermark. That evening, I received an email from her:

I hope all is well. I have been trying to make sure everything is in good shape so that our work can go on smoothly without any problems. I am really enjoying the weather here in Malaysia. You are starting your first task today,Tuesday,23rd of November,2010. One of my clients just sent her payment for some textile materials.You have been sent a payment in form of cashiers check and it will be delivered today via UPS.Here is the tracking number J229 768 525 5 . You can log on to www.ups.com to have it traced and comfirm its delivery..

proceed to cash it at your bank, and deduct $300.We will be needing it to buy some of the office equipment.

Also,I want you to send out the rest of the funds to Me here in malaysia.We will be needing it to buy some fabrics and also some textile materials from here.Alot of beautiful fabrics here! Make sure the funds are sent out through western union money transfer.I would prefer you wire the funds through bank account But since its urgent and using Western Union is instant,It makes the funds available for fast processing .

Below is the information you need to wire the funds to by Western Union.

I will be waiting patiently to read back from you soonest i still have something i do want you to do for me later in the day,so get it done Early enogh and get back to me.

Note: Deduct the western union transfer fee from the payment and
make sure you use "Money in Minutes" option.

I then sent her a "nicely" worded email letting her know that the jig was up, and that I was reporting her to the authorities, as well as Capital One. I hope these people are caught and blown off the face of the earth. This is extremely unfortunate. I was fortunate enough to think, and be a skeptic. But many are not, especially when large sums of money are involved. When you need the cash (who wouldn't if you were looking for a job), your good sense sometimes goes out the window. Far too many people are left with the consequences of crooks and thieves like these who just prey on innocent people and show absolutely no regard to basic human kindness.

Please be on the lookout for these people. This is horrible.

Have you the link to the CL ad? You had the right to be suspicious - "advert" is a British term (and Nigeria is a former British colony; many Nigerian scammers are operating out of Malaysia now). Americans say "ad" of course.

As I said elsewhere, ask them to send the money to YOU via Western Union. Tell them that you don't take checks unless you can send them a check. See what they say next!
